POLICE busted a drug trafficking ring with the seizure of more than 260kg of syabu worth about RM8.5 million in a raid on an apartment in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Yahaya Othman said a man was arrested in the raid, and following that, police nabbed six more men in raids conducted in several states.

He said three suspects were arrested in Perak, two in Penang and one in Selangor.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 47, are believed have been active since last July and all of them are in remand for seven days until Saturday for help in investigations under section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Yahaya said of the seven arrested, four have previous records and five tested positive for drug.

He said apart from the drugs, which were found in 226 packages, police also seized four vehicles – a Toyota Alphard, a Ford Ranger, a Perodua Axia and a Perodua Bezza – worth about RM424,000.

He said the drugs are believed to have been obtained from the northern states before being sent to Kuala Lumpur for distribution. – Bernama, September 20, 2022.
